Ho Chi Minh City: Farm scampi under VietGap standards

Farming scampi (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) under VietGAP standards is a new production method. Previsously, black tiger shrimp was considered as a key objective with high economic efficiency.

However, in some past years, scampi overtook black tiger shrimp and brought a significant income for farmers in the coastal brackish and salt water areas including Nha Be and Can Gio.

The purpose of this model is to transfer of shrimp farming practice under Gap standards to raise the awareness of responsible production, well equip the better production practice skills and provide safe and hygiene products as the foundation of sustainable aquaculture development.

Besides, this model also opens a new aquaculture direction that increases the competitiveness of agricultural products and helps farmers understand more about better production practices under Gap standards as well as high quality products.
